Inquiry

"A living thing consumes, grows,
breathes, adapts to its habitat and perishes."
                                                Room 8, 2015

• My project is about the Venus flytrap.
• I got my information from a good websit on the web and a useful plant book.
• My dad helped me with the computer and putting words into easier words to understand.
• My faveourite fact is that the Venus flytrap has evolved to become a plant that eats insects.
• I think if I created another one I would make the letters stand out more, put more facts on and make my base cardboard bigger.

                                                          This is my project.

Christmas time in Poland

POLAND'S CHRISTMAS

Poland celebrates Christmas on the 25th of December and since they are a religious country it is a major celebration for the birth of Jesus Christ. Their main (if they are having a Christmas dinner) is probably  fried carp. Apparently Santa doesn't bring the presents baby Jesus, Angel, Star or Starman does. Their celebration takes about 2 or 3 months! Some  people even give up food and drinks.

Sailing an optimist yacht by Oliver. R

On Thursday the 19th of November room 8 went to Pandora pond, I went in David's (Tom's dad's) car with Tom, Siah, Mekhi and myself. Me and Tom were buddies, in a bout wich we put together.
our bout was missing a few peces but not very important peces.
As Rob (Lewis's dad) pushed us out I pushed the centre-bord in, and we were sailing! A-couple of people cap-sized but we didn't. Tom and me went in for a break and went out again.

Writing

WALT write a report (about Steinlager rugby awards.)

A good report may include;
• title (that stands out, big bright).
• sub-headings.
• photo-relevant to the title.
• introduction-> hook
                     -> author's style
• quotes-> interview
              -> report

Here is my example of the Steinlager rugby awards.

                    NO ONE KNOW'S
"the annual steinlager award has got given to... ?"

This year (2012) rugby lovers are going crazy at the minute.
ITM, Super rugby and heartland rugby are making them crazy but the main problem is the steinlager rugby awards it's making the rugby lovers like a mainiak. but the rugby will have to wait for another time! because it isn't going on right now.

Writing

WALA spring.

We made a daisy poem for spring.

I celebrate spring by going to the blossom-parade.

This is Egypt's meaning of spring.

Sham ennisim is an Egyptian national holiday marking the beginning of spring. Ancient Egyptians used to celebrate the Harvest of the Wheat and modern Egyptians have continued celebrating this holiday even now. It always falls on the day after the Eastern Christian Easter Despite the Christian-related date, the holiday is celebrated by Egyptians regardless of religion.

We also made butterflys using symmetries for spring.

Kapa Haka

At Kapa Haka we learn new songs like Nga iwi e.

   We went to perform at Hastings intermediate. It was just fun.
   My favourite performance was probably... Hastings boy's.

Maths

In maths WALT figer out the anser of a number that is on sale and has a percentage off.

If there was something that costs $75 then...
10% will be $7.50
20% will be $15
30% will be $22.50

To figure these out I kept adding 10%.
I think I can use this when I see things on sale at the shops.

Reading

In our reading workshop WALT use the main subject in the sentence that you're reading for a gide to know what the rest of the sentence is going to be about.

WRITING

In our writing workshop WALT use List sentence, Clause sentence, Direct speech sentence  and Dialogue sentencein our writing.  Here is a story that includes those things.

"Once apon a ti..." said man.

"Yeah yeah who cares about the once apon a time thing," said fat cow, as he sat on man. Man killed fat cow, and said "my bum, who was fat, farted... so oh see that."

There was a long and big fart coming from the shed. Man looked in and saw fat cows, dog looking pigs, fat men and a tiny dog.

"You lot are all fat." Shouted man,

"You are," said the fat lot of animals. Then man just died. So random. The animals chattered about dead man. Then out from the back of the shed came "bob the builder can you fix it, bob the builder no you can't !" Shouted bob the builder. A volcano erupted. Every one died. Then...

never mind the end. ('-'#)

Signed Man.

Visiting a Mārae

If you want to go to a mārae here are some tips about the rules

Entering the marae

When you go to a Mārae you need to go through the entrance wich is the triangle with the Mouri patterns on it. When you walk in the woman go at the front and at the back goes the men. You will need a powhiri, When you sit down the men sit in the front to protect the women.

The whare's

You have to take your shoes off when you go into the Wharenui as well as phones, keys and all of that stuff, and all the other whare's are not aloud that either except the wharekei.

The wharekei

When it is food time (breakfast, morning tea, lunch, tea and pudding) you go into the wharekei and the chefs will cook or bake your meal. You are most likely to get yum things than yuk.

Thanks for reading!
